I hope you all are enjoying the fall weather. Where I’m from its just began to get a chill in the air. But I love fall. I love being able to throw on a jacket going outside, or just wearing a comfy long sleeve shirt! Ya know what else is awesome this time of year? Curling up with a blanket an a good book! This one I have for you guys really fits with the atmosphere of fall and halloween.
The Wicked Deep has stuck as one of my favorite books since I finished it. I’ve read several books now since I opened the beautiful cover of this adventure. Yes, I mentioned the cover for a reason. I’m a fan of stars and the moon so it was no guess whether I’d like this or not! Its stunning to say the least. That brings me to the actual story.
I don’t even know how to do it justice so I’m going to let you have a read at the synopsis that is on Goodreads;
Welcome to the cursed town of Sparrow…
Where, two centuries ago, three sisters were sentenced to death for witchery. Stones were tied to their ankles and they were drowned in the deep waters surrounding the town.
Now, for a brief time each summer, the sisters return, stealing the bodies of three weak-hearted girls so that they may seek their revenge, luring boys into the harbor and pulling them under.
Like many locals, seventeen-year-old Penny Talbot has accepted the fate of the town. But this year, on the eve of the sisters’ return, a boy named Bo Carter arrives; unaware of the danger he has just stumbled into.
Mistrust and lies spread quickly through the salty, rain-soaked streets. The townspeople turn against one another. Penny and Bo suspect each other of hiding secrets. And death comes swiftly to those who cannot resist the call of the sisters.
But only Penny sees what others cannot. And she will be forced to choose: save Bo, or save herself.
A story of bravery and love. I can say, I was on edge. Oh, and the ending, yeah didn’t see that coming for a good while.
My Rating 5/5
I have now been lucky enough to speak with Shea Ernshaw. Very briefly, but I can say with all honesty, she did a magnificent job with this story. Besides being a sweet and lovely woman, she is a phenomenal author. I’m really excited to see what she has in store for the future. After following her via Instagram I know she’s crazy busy finishing up her next novel Winterwood. Just from reading this one I’ll be purchasing that one for sure.
